NORTHWOOD COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP REPORT

At a recent Residents’ Event, we were very fortunate to have Miss Kathy Barter as our guest. Kathy worked for 45 years as a maid at Osborne House. She gave us a very interesting insight into the type of work and the very long hours they encountered. She told us some amazing and entertaining stories about the life at Osborne and the people she served. Kathy even dressed in her uniform.

In November, the Northwood Community Partnership was asked by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation to host the launch, by former TV presenter Dickie Davies, of the “Surviving Winter” Campaign 2012. The campaign hopes to raise funds to support vulnerable older people during the winter months. Last year many people on the Island were helped to pay their fuel bills with the money raised. Ray Hamilton-Vail, from the Footprint Trust, explained that last year, with funds from this campaign they were able to help people on how to save energy. The Footprint Trust is always available to give guidance and support to anyone.
