February 2014
.
A good turnout of members along with three visitors came to the February meeting on a very wet and blustery afternoon.
.
President Denise Hunter welcomed everyone and distributed Birthday Cards.
.
A very successful Jumble Sale was held recently and another is planned for November.
.
Arrangements were made for the Table Top Sale on the 8th February.
.
There is to be an Evening Out Dining Club and the first meal will be on Wednesday 19th February, venue to be arranged.
.
There is to be another one of our very popular Lunch and Games on Thursday 13th March with a good selection of food on offer.
.
Our Speaker today was Kathy Barter talking on her life in Service at Osborne House.
Kathy started there when she was 15 years old and retired after 45 years. Kathy came dressed in her original dress (How many of us can say that after all those years)? Some of the tales she told were hilarious. Living in with the very sparse bedrooms, Kathy worked a 48-hour week with split shifts. She nevertheless seemed to have enjoyed herself.
.
The Vote of Thanks was given by Jacqui Pearce.
.
The competition winners for the Best Garden Bloom were in joint first place Fay Bunday and Paddy Hunter and for the unusual Brooch also in joint first place were Fay Bunday and Paddy Hunter.
.
The meeting closed at 4pm.
.
Best Wishes
.
