REPORT – MARCH 2015

I have been impressed by Island Roads’ responsiveness to concerns that have been raised within the Ward; whether it is a road hazard or accommodating people during roadworks, such as Pallance Road drain renewal, I have found them to be considerate and reactive, and informative. The contractor has doubled the work force, setting up another gang renewing the drainage from the top. We are all hoping that this will ensure the works will be complete in time for Easter, when this newsletter will reach you.

The Post Office are still looking for a suitable site. I can’t say, but I do wonder if all the publicity in recent times of Postmasters being held to account and locked up, even, for computer errors that weren’t necessarily their fault, has had anything to do with reticence to consider taking on the business. I hope that by the time this newsletter is published there have been some positive developments.

I have informed the Homes and Community Agency of the football tournament taking place in the playing fields off Seaview Road on 18th April, and they have assured me that their imminently planned works will be complete by the 15th.
.
By the time you get this report, we will have delivered the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) workshop, and with Northwood and Cowes leading the way as local Councils in developing Community Wellbeing as an active agenda item, we should be able to start putting some structure to the initiative.
