The New President Mrs Fay Bunday welcomed everyone to the meeting.
.
We all hoped that Paddy Hunter enjoyed her birthday the day before. Paddy then gave a short resumé of her trip to The Royal Garden Tea Party at Buckingham Palace. She thoroughly enjoyed her day, the sun shone and the tea was brilliant.
.
Colleen Debenham then gave her report on the AM held in The Royal Albert Hall celebrating 100 years of the formation of the WI in the UK. The Queen looked lovely as did The Princess Royal and The Duchess of Wessex. Colleen had never seen the Queen quite so close before and didn’t realise how small she was. Even when the resolution had been amended it was not passed as it was deemed not possible with the state of the NH Service. Colleen thoroughly enjoyed her day and thanked us for allowing her to go as our delegate. Several of our ladies enjoyed the live screening of this event at the Multi Plex Cinema in Newport.
.
Our Speaker was Lydia Fellelove giving a talk on Landscapes/drawing/poetry on the Island and told us of many projects she had worked on across the Island. Mrs Fellelove also read some poetry.
.
Our next meeting is on the 2nd July. The speaker will be Mrs Hazel Pullen giving a talk on the World War One men of Northwood. Next comes our Summer Fair on 4th July in our hall at Northwood from 2pm.
.
Then in September we will be holding another Lunch & Games. This will be a Ploughman’s of either Cheese or Ham with Pickles etc. and Crusty Bread and Butter followed by a choice of sweet. Cost is £7. For further details please phone Anne Jonas on 295437.
.
Elisabeth Hamilton won the Competition for the Best Garden Bloom and June Thistlewood and Elisabeth Hamilton came joint first for either a painting/poetry/photo on the Island.
.
Best wishes
.
