.
Ladies and Gentlemen.
.
Newport Jazz Club is pleased to present “JATA (Jazz at the Apollo)” based upon the famous “JATP (Jazz at the Philharmonic)” concerts, promoted by Norman Granz from 1944 to 1983. For your interest, a press release by Ian Mitchell of Angel Radio giving the history of JATP is attached.
.
You may expect jazz of a high and exciting order; a session full of great solos and spontaneous riffs from the front line of Bruce Adams, and James Copus (trumpets), Gary Plumley (tenor sax), and Mark Nightingale (trombone), backed by a solid rhythm section of Peter Trueman, Mike Whitehead and myself.
.
This should prove a landmark concert for Newport Jazz Club and the format will be repeated if well supported by you all. Look out for some exciting blues and jazz standard numbers with this seven-piece. There may also be a few other surprises on stage!
.
Tickets £12/£6. Reserved by replying to this email or tel: 01983 523879 or 01983 730601 or at the door if available.
.
Tickets for the free concert on the 13th December will be available at this concert.
.
sincerely,
.
Bill Wills.
