Back after a break Newport Jazz Club is proud to present a top class singer Liz Fletcher together with her trio at the Apollo Theatre on Sunday 11th September @ 3pm-5.30pm. This concert is sponsored by Ian Mitchell, jazz presenter of Angel Radio. We are very grateful for his support.
.
Liz was born in Kingston Upon Thames into a musical family (her parents were singers, her stepfather a saxophonist) and she has performed all over Europe, the Far East and USA.
.
Influenced by Peggy Lee and Julie London she has a love for Ella and Chet Bakers’ phrasing and a passion for Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, the Crusaders and many of the early fusion bands. She has recorded four solo albums to date “Mellow Mania”, Liz Fletcher “Live In The Park”, “Blue Afternoons” and “Liz”. She appears on a number of collaborations but two in particular “Songs for unsung heroes” and “Seven ages of jazz” where she sings the lyrics of Alan Plater to the music of Alan Barnes are well worth checking out.
.
This promises to be an exceptional concert!
