Newport Jazz Club – Jazz at the Apollo

Many of our fans in the past have enjoyed the format of our “Jazz at the Apollo meets Jazz at the Philharmonic” concerts. Again we are privileged to present some top jazz men who will resurrect the exciting jazz of Norman Granz’s worldwide concerts. Modern jazz from the era of men such as Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, Flip Phillips and others with standard and blues numbers played in a relaxed spontaneous manner plus riffs and humour will be led by top trombonist Mark Nightingale. He will be supported in the front line by Andy Urquhart (trumpet), Gary Plumley (sax), Nick Page (guitar) and our house rhythm section of Peter Trueman (piano), Mike Whitehead (bass) and Bill Wills on drums. This will be a great swinging concert, one not to miss!
