President Elisabeth Hamilton welcomed members and three visitors to the July meeting.
A minute’s silence was held in memory of Judy Gascoyne, one of our late members who sadly passed away in June.
An update on two members who have recently had knee replacements was given.
Sylvia Williams, a W.I. Advisor, gave a very good report on the recent 95th AGM held in Cardiff. This year’s resolution for clear and mandatory country-of-origin labelling on all meat, poultry and fish products was passed with a colossial 99.13% vote.
Arrangements were made for forthcoming events, including July’s Ramble and Summer Fair, a Programme meeting and an outing in August, also in September another popular Lunch and Games.
The Art and Craft afternoons continue to be popular.
Our speaker was Laura Humphreys, Prison Chaplain who gave a very interesting talk on her life as Chaplain behind bars! Laura is also a Chaplain in various parts of the Island.
Competitions winners were: Best Garden Bloom – June Burden and Cheese Scones – Denise Hunter.
