Mrs Mary Chick gave a tribute to Mrs Kathleen Dunford who died recently. Mrs Dunford was one of our most cherished members.
We are also sorry to be losing Mrs Jean Rogers who is moving to Wootton.
Mrs Dawn Taylor was welcomed, also Mrs Jean Clayton our member from Windsor.
An appeal was given for a W.I. cook to help at Abbeyfield in Cowes.
Correspondence was read and finances were reported. Items were pointed out in the County Letter; it was reported the hall is suffering from damp and experts are being called in.
Mr Keith Jones from the Magistrates Court spoke to us about life in the four courts here on the Island, two courts for adults, one for children up to 16 years, and one for families. He explained his job as a magistrate was voluntary. His talk was absorbing and very interesting, generating lots of questions. No one slept! The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Edwards.
The Craft afternoon is on April 22nd 2010. Names and monies were collected for the Birthday Party at the Sun Inn, Calbourne at the end of April.
The Table Top Sale is on 15th May 2010. Due to popular demand the Lunch & Games will be on Thursday June 10th.
The next meeting is 13th May 2010 – a week later due to the proposed General Election. Mr West from Canine Partners will be our speaker.
