Form and colour, challenging
the critics – this is confrontation,
pandering to none who holds the
yardstick of convention: sees with
photographic eyes.
Here, interpreted in modern
ways, the Island scenes impinge on
retina and mind, explanatory in
line and mass – convey their message
at a range of forty feet with
optical assaults that complement a
field beyond the artist’s conscious
aim; for here his psyche of its
own volition has expressed the
current mood – induced his art to
comment on the starkness of a
technocratic age.
Meanwhile, sipping wine, invited
connoisseurs parade, observe,
and think they understand.
