NORTHWOOD IN BLOOM
A wonderful chance to enter this competition. No forms to fill in or coupons to collect. You don’t even have to be at home! Every garden in the village has a chance to win a prize.
Quite a few people will be seen wandering around our village and noting down addresses where the garden shows promise. These addresses will then be passed to Ron Willis who will make the final judging. The presentation of prizes will be made on Saturday, 26th August 2006at the Northwood Village Produce Annual Show, being held at the Northwood W.I. Hall.
CALOR VILLAGE OF THE YEAR
We have been runners-up for the last two years. Third time lucky? This is the chance to let everyone else know this is a great village to go to school, live and work in. The judges will include representatives from the Island’s Rural Community Council and we will have exactly one hour to convince them we are the best! Judging takes place either on 26th or 27th June.
If anyone can do anything to give extra pride to the village, picking up litter, cleaning a street sign etc., please do so. It’s our village!
VILLAGE WEBSITE
If you want to find out more about Northwood, a visit to the village website at www.northwoodvillage.org.uk is well worthwhile. It has very frequent updates and is full of very interesting items including news on the Community Partnership and the newly formed Management Committee.
Agendas and Minutes of the Management Committee will also be found on the village notice board, located beside the Horseshoe Public House.
The next meeting of the Community Partnership will be held on 26th June 2006 at Northwood Primary School, starting at 6pm. If you believe you can give a little time to make your village better, come along. Ideas, from all ages, are always welcome. There is a guarantee you can be back home in time for some sort of sporting Event on TV.

NORTHWOOD PARISH PLAN – YOUR VILLAGE, YOUR FUTURE: CAMERA PROJECT
When it comes to personal priorities, the vast majority of us would not consider the future of our village to be ranked up alongside the day-to-day pressures and monotony of modern life!!!
However … When a burglary arises, a planning application is submitted on land adjacent to you; when your local shop closes, or an application comes to increase traffic flows in your road, or when your children come home to tell us that they are ‘bored’ we go on to ask ‘why?’
The Northwood Parish Plan, although not answering these questions, will at the very least give us, our Parish Council and County Council an insight into what kind of development and community resources we want for Northwood in the years ahead.
In order to pre-empt those issues which may arise, The Community Partnership is now forging forward with our Parish Plan Consultation. The first phase of this is the Northwood Camera Project.
To help us with the future Questionnaire, all that we ask of your household is that you tell us the three things your family like best about living in Northwood; the three things you would like to change about the village whilst supplying us with photographic evidence to substantiate your views.
The FREE cameras have been kindly supplied by David Biles and Northwood Stores. The Community Partnership will develop all the photographs with a public exhibition to be held after the cameras are returned in August. A £50 prize fund has been set aside for residents to judge the winning entry/ies.
If you wish to enter this competition please contact us on NorthwoodPP@hotmail.co.uk or DAVID MILLER on 01983 241016for your Camera and Information Pack.
