NORTHWOOD COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP NEWS (Colin Palmerton, Chairman 01983 282242)
What do you want to do?
To date, The Community Partnership has undertaken, on behalf of villagers, many varied projects. However, these have been done to benefit our village and not just for Partnership members.
We have discovered that many of the more senior members of our community do not have the benefit of much social contact.
So the question is – what do you want to do?
So far these suggestions have been put forward: a Tea Dance, a Bingo afternoon or a ‘Drop In and Chat’ session. Any, or all, of these would probably be held at the W.I. Hall during a weekday afternoon. Should you have a mobility issue, transport could be arranged.
There would only be a minimal cost if we can access the funding. To do this, however, some idea of numbers would increase the chances of a successful bid. Please make contact, by phone, email, through the village website or call round to a Partnership member to join in or if you have any other ideas to benefit our mature residents.
The wooden posts and chains at the junction of Uplands Road and Nodes Road have now been replaced thanks to the efforts of the Parish Council.
There seems to be a chance that the weather may improve and the ‘Northwood Gnomes’ have been seen out and about, starting to tidy the village planters and gardens.
There are now just 6 troughs needing ‘adoption’ in Nodes Road. Villagers of any age are welcome. No great gardening skills required. Maybe a hand trowel and a bag for the weeds!
There is still no news as to whether there will be funding, this year, from the ‘Wight in Bloom’ scheme.
A reminder to everyone that our village entry for ‘Walk the Wight’ is on May 14th 2010. Why not try the walk for yourselves? Contact Paul Fuller or re-read last month’s Northwood News for full details.
By the time you read this newsletter, the Community Partnership AGM will have taken place. As a consequence, there may be different office holders. Nonetheless, all members will continue to be available to assist with your suggestions to maintain and improve our village life.
Everyone is welcome to the next Community Partnership meeting, which will be on Tuesday, 25th May 2010, in the Northwood W.I. Hall, Newport Road, starting at 7.45pm.
