A SERVICE FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF ALL SOULS

The pain of separation from those who have died lasts many years. It is often a pain which is very personal and which we cannot easily share.

All Souls’ Day, kept in early November, is by tradition set apart by the Christian Church as a time to pause and remember all those who have died. So we offer you this service as a time, place and space to come, to remember those whom you have loved and lost and to honour them. We hope that it will be a fitting tribute to those whom we love but see no longer, reminding us all that, although they have died, they live in our hearts and in the heart of God.

We hope also that in this service you may receive some comfort from the prayers for yourself, and for your loved ones who have died and know that you are not alone in grief.

During the service everyone present will be invited to light a candle in memory of their loved ones and leave it burning at the chancel steps as a visible focus for our memories. In a time of special prayer we will mention by name all those whose funerals have been conducted by the ministers of our parishes during the past year, together with any other names given in before the service begins. If you would like a particular name from past years to be included please contact The Rev’d Lyn McRostie on 01983 298370 and advise her of the names.

This year the service will be at All Saints, Gurnard at 7pm on Monday, 3rd November.
