The next meeting of the NCP is planned for MONDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2006at Northwood Primary school commencing at 6pm. However, this cannot be confirmed until the school reopens for the new term in September.
There are two main subjects for discussion:
1. ‘No Cold Calling’ zone.
Would the local community approve the setting up of a ‘No Cold Calling’ zone for Northwood?
We are informed by the IW Council Trading Standards department that there were 18 incidents of cold calling during last year but thanks to the intervention of Trading Standards Island residents were saved over £12,000.
With this scheme in place, Trading Standards, working alongside the police, believe that a ‘No Cold Calling’ zone for Northwood would be very effective.
Our local Neighbourhood Watch also supports the idea.
2. Northwood Community Plan.
The Partnership is tasked with reporting to the Northwood Village Management Committee on which schemes the NVMC should fund for the next 12 months.
Some ideas, so far, are:
A Summer Fair.
Welcome pack for new residents.
Additional playground equipment for Venner Avenue play area.
Village sign adjacent to the Horseshoe Public House.
Provision of a social event for elderly residents, living alone.
Activity suitable for the teenagers of the village.
Everyone in the village is welcome to contact any of us at the addresses shown at the top of this article with other ideas, or if you are prepared to assist in improving the quality of life in OUR village.
