Cowes Heritage Exhibition
Our fifth major exhibition ‘White’s of Cowes’ will be held at a new venue; Regatta House, 18 Bath Road, Cowes. It illustrates the history of the shipbuilding yard spanning five generations of the White family, leading up to the purchase by a Cardiff consortium and finally the take-over by Elliott Turbomachinery Ltd.
The extensive research has involved interviews with past employees and their families relating their experiences. It is interesting to note the conditions some of the workforce endured years ago, which are totally unacceptable in today’s factories.
The photos displayed are primarily aimed at showing people in their working environment; not very many of them have names to accompany the faces so we would be grateful for your assistance in this matter.
