NEWPORT JAZZ CLUB – JAZZ AT THE APOLLO
This non-profit making club will serve as a showcase for Island Jazz Groups and musicians.
The Apollo Theatre are supporting this branch of the Arts by hosting a series of concerts.
An additional role will be to acquaint the younger generation of emerging musicians with jazz in all forms with concerts, sit-in concerts and teach-ins as required.
The Newport Jazz Club was founded by Island bass player Cass Caswell in 1963 and it is hoped that Island fans will support this new venture for mutual benefit.
Sunday 11th April – The Phoenix Jazz Ensemble with Island guests Nette Robinson (vocals) and Charles Ross (trumpet) 7.30-10pm – tickets £5 (reserve on 01983 523879) or at the door.
Bar available.
Sunday 30th May – The Bob Howarth Big Band.
