St George’s weekend

Posted by Admin on 25 April 2009, 12:00 am

The show opens at 10.30am on Saturday 25th and at 11.30am the Fancy Dress procession leaves from East Cowes Town Hall arriving at Northwood Park shortly after the opening ceremony at noon. The afternoon is given over to fun and games for all the family until 5.30pm with an opportunity to join in or visit the many Art & Craft stalls with local products etc. on offer.

The event opens again at 10.00am on Sunday 26th when, in addition to the fun and games there will be a static display of Classic Vehicles including cars, motorcycles and the ingenious three-wheelers of the Towrags Club.

On both days, starting at 11.00am, there will be an interactive IWC School Meals Roadshow cookery display by Pabulum with a competition and draw for a Nintendo Wii games machine. There will also be a range of caterers providing good food and refreshments including the St George’s Bar.

Youth organisations will feature prominently as will the famous Wolfguard Vikings and the Island’s own Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The event closes at 5.00pm on Sunday following the traditional Tug-of-War for the Rotary Club of Cowes Challenge shield.

The April issue of the Cowes Advertiser contains an event programme.
