Calling all Knitters and Crochetiers of Northwood

Our Banner of Remembrance is now finished and has been displayed in Church for all to see. We had a fantastic response and many of you kindly offered to do more if needed.

We would be very grateful if the residents of Northwood could knit or crochet RED poppies with a BLACK BUTTON in the middle.

This Community project is for our Remembrance Sunday display.

If you would like to make some poppies (the more the merrier), please feel free to use either of the two patterns; you will find one for knitting and one for crochet.

Your completed poppies may be dropped into

Northwood Stores or Northwood Church by the end of October.

Knitted Poppies

Cast on 60 sts using 3.5mm needles or Number 9 and Red DK yarn.

Rows 1-8 (K2, P2) to end.

Row 9 (K2tog) to end. [30 sts]

Row 10 (K2tog) to end. [15 sts]

Break off yarn, leaving a long tail.

Thread tail through remaining 15 sts and pull tight, then fasten off yarn.

Join the edges of the poppy together and sew the black button in the centre of the poppy.
