An enjoyable evening of song interspersed with carol singing filled the church at Saint John the Baptist, Northwood.
.
On Friday 20th December 2019, Abbie Revert and Nathan Stubbings entertained a crowd of over 60 listeners in aid of the Wight Brainy Bunch. Nathan, a singing pupil of Tressa Lambert, sang a varied repertoire of diploma songs in French, Italian, German and English. In particular, his rendition of Ivor Gurney’s sleep was sympathetically sung. Nathan then invited Abbie Revert to sing, another pupil of Tressa and a singing scholar at Ryde School. Abbie sang a mixture of musical theatre songs including a passionate rendition of ‘If I loved you’ by Rogers and Hammerstein and ‘Still hurting’ from the musical, ‘The Last Five Years’. The real treat came when Nathan and Abbie prepared Christmas duets, sung in flawless harmony. They were competently accompanied by Deborah Grubb, also a teacher at Ryde School, and Iain Briggs accompanied the Carols on the organ.
.
Kathryn Grimes from the Wight Brainy Bunch was delighted to receive a donation of £275.60 that was raised on the night. Many thanks goes to Rev’d Amanda Collinson at Northwood Church for hosting the event.
