Dear Reader,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you; my name is Bron Bayliss and at the recent AGM of The Friends of Northwood Church I was elected to be its Chairman.
.
For those of you who may not be familiar with the work of FONCh its objects are in conjunction with the Parish of St John the Baptist Church and its Parish Priest to care for and maintain St John the Baptist church, Northwood, Isle of Wight and associated land as well as they can, with a view to continued repair and restoration, and to preserve the beautiful building which has stood since the 12th century and which with your help will stand for a few more years. Membership is open to all regardless of religious persuasion.

Due to an administrative oversight the renewal of subscriptions has been overlooked and I will be contacting previous members asking if they would re-pledge their support, in due course.
.
What I would like to ask through these pages is for any readers who feel they may be able to help, either by becoming a member or by attending a fund-raising function. The first of these will be a Pumpkin Carving Competition to take place at Medina House, Church Lane, Northwood, on Sunday 28th October from 2.00-5.00pm and is open to children of all ages (i.e. 1-100 years), bearing in mind that pumpkin carving can be a dangerous operation and requires adult supervision!
