It is with regret that I have to inform you that the planned Open Garden Day has had to be cancelled due to the lack of support from the residents of Northwood.
.
As previously reported in these pages the serious repairs needed to the Church ceiling have been estimated at £8000 and it was hoped that the Friends of Northwood Church could raise a contribution towards the cost of these repairs.
.
When I sit in Church at Christmas, Easter, Harvest Festival, Remembrance Sunday and family celebrations I see that there are many people who value the role the Church has to play in their lives and I feel sure that they do not wish to lose such a beautiful building which has stood the test of time for over 800 years.
.
The Friends were set up to raise funds to help, care and maintain this building and membership is open to all regardless of religious persuasion.
.
As the year rolls on we are once again nearing the time of our A.G.M. and the election of officers to ensure the continuation of this group. If you feel, like me, that this building which started its life in the 12th century should go on to see a good few more please make yourself known to me or any member of the church – any offers of help however large or small will be gratefully appreciated.
.
Once again if you feel St John’s is worth maintaining please get in touch:
