NORTHWOOD COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP REPORT (Eileen Turner-Palmerton, Secretary)
The Community Partnership held the Annual General Meeting at the end of March at which Colin Palmerton decided to relinquish the post of Chairman. He said that he had enjoyed his time in the position and felt it was time for someone else to take on the post. He stated that he would still be committed to work with the Partnership for the benefit of the Village. Carole Jackson was nominated to fill the position of Chairman for the forthcoming year and she duly accepted. Her first duty was to thank Colin for all his hard work over the past years and looked forward to working with all the members.
It was agreed at the meeting that the Partnership should meet bi-monthly, next meeting being Tuesday May 25th 2010.
Thereafter July 27th 2010, September 28th 2010, November 23rd 2010, January 25th 2011, March 22nd 2011. All meetings being held at the W.I. Hall, Northwood commencing at 7.45pm, to which all residents are welcome to attend.
The Community Partnership is hosting a
RESIDENTS EVENT
on Wednesday 16th June 2010
at 2.30pm – 4.30pm
in the W.I. Hall, Northwood.
This FREEafternoon event will include tea, biscuits and a chat, a Quiz and hopefully some of the local agencies, such as Safer Neighbourhoods Team, Trading Standards and Fire & Rescue will be attending. The idea of the event is to bring people who are on their own, not able to get out very much or who do not have many friends. Arrangements will be made for transport for anyone who is unable to get to the hall and would like to attend. (Please call any of the above numbers to arrange transport).
In the last Northwood News, we were not sure if funding was available from “Wight in Bloom” for the flowers in the Village. We are pleased to say that funding has been secured and by the time you receive this Northwood News, the Village should be planted with the summer flowers.
