NORTHWOOD COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP REPORT
(Eileen Turner-Palmerton, Secretary)
As was stated in the last edition of Northwood News, our Residents Event has taken place. Quite a few residents attended and said they enjoyed the afternoon and were looking forward to more events. Rev’ds Lyn McRostie, Keith Adlam and Diana Netherway attended, with representatives from the Safer Neighbourhood Team, The Fire & Rescue Service, Age Concern and the Rural Health Trainer.
THE NEXT RESIDENTS EVENT IS ON
WEDNESDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2010 from 2.30PM – 4.30PM
AT THE W. I. HALL, NORTHWOOD
Further events for your diary are October 20th 2010 and November 17th 2010 when Partnership members look forward to seeing even more Residents at these events.
Community Partnership members have been round the Village looking at all the lovely gardens, hanging baskets and containers. It was very difficult trying to assess which gardens etc. to choose. Winning residents Mr & Mrs Kingsland, Mr & Mrs Willis, Mr & Mrs Richmond, Mrs Leppard, Mrs Hayward, Mr & Mrs Stevens, Mr & Mrs Mew, Mr & Mrs Toms, and Mrs Allen. They were presented with their awards at the Northwood Village Produce show. Congratulations to everyone for the lovely displays, which makes us so proud of our village.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH REPORT
( John Pullen, Coordinator, Tel: 01983 281250 )
A vigorous Anti-Social Behaviour initiative has been applied by our Safer Neighbourhood Police Team and been a great success. Pressure applied by the Team has almost eliminated incidents. A number of young people have been issued with warnings and parents notified. There have been 2 shed burglaries. Advice from PCSO Steve Oatley is to ensure that doors to sheds and homes are locked and cars secured – don’t leave valuable items on display!!!
We are to lose our Team Leader, Sgt Julie Cocks, shortly, to Shanklin. Her replacement is Sgt Mike Sizer. Julie will be greatly missed as she set a very high standard of leadership – all I can say is ‘Goodbye and thanks Julie – look out Shanklin!!!’
Please let me know of any incidents of Cold Calling or ring Trading Standards on 01983 823370.
If you require a No Cold Calling Sticker, or Black or Green recycle bins please give me a ring.
