NORTHWOOD PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the Extra Ordinary Meeting of Northwood Parish Council, held in Northwood Primary School, Wyatts Lane, Northwood, Isle of Wight on Tuesday, 16 July 2013

 

Present: Councillors John Pullen (Chairman), Chris Riddet (Vice Chairman), Paul Fuller, David Jaggar, Ray Mew, and Derek Smith

There were no members of the public present

 

77/13-14 To receive and approve any apologies for absence
Apologies had been received from Cllrs John Nicholson and John Ward

 

78/13-14 Members’ interests
There were no declarations of interest made at this stage and no written requests for Dispensation had been received

 

79/13-14 To consider undertaking a Housing Needs Survey for Northwood
The Chairman referred councillors to the report attached to the agenda.
An informal meeting had been held with Peter Griffiths, the IW Council’s Principal Officer, Housing Policy where he had confirmed that financial support and assistance, similar to that provided to Fishbourne Parish Council, would also be made available to the Parish Council.
The delivery/collection of the Housing Needs Survey (HNS) would be the responsibility of Northwood Parish Council. The IW Council, however, would work with the Parish Council to design the survey and then undertake and pay for the printing costs. The returned forms would then be forwarded to the Planning Office for collation.  Upon completion, the HNS once formally minuted as being accepted, would then be available for use by the Development Control Team.
The clerk reminded of the large supply of plastic wallets still held following the Parish Plan questionnaire exercise, which could be useful once again.
During discussion it was questioned as to whether local residents would be prepared to complete another form so soon after the previous questionnaire.  It was therefore suggested for a substantive article to be included in the next edition of the Northwood News, to inform of the importance of undertaking the HNS.  It was also suggested that a minor revision be made to the question requesting details of household income.
In the absence of Cllr Ward, the clerk read from his email outlining his support to undertake the HNS.

RESOLVED :

i THAT  Northwood Parish Council formally agrees to undertake a Housing Needs Survey;
ii THAT the decision to undertake a Local Housing Needs Survey, be confirmed in writing to Wendy Perera, of the IW Council’s Planning & Regulatory Services
