Scouts LogoThe Island Scouts as a whole are planning to publish a book chronicling
the history of the Scout Groups on the Island; we were founded in 1926 and
this means there is a lot of history behind 1st Northwood Scouts. We
would be very interested to hear from any residents of Northwood who can
help the County and the Group with lists of previous leaders, stories of
events and how and where the group was formed.

I am aware that the original wooden hut was burnt down and the brick building
standing now was rebuilt totally with the aid of donations. We would be glad to
hear from anyone involved in the re-building of the Scout Hut.

If you have any photographs or materials that you would be willing for us to use
please contact me on 01983 289558. We will return any items that are loaned to

Please feel free to contact me on the above number regarding any matters
regarding the Scouts of Northwood.

Also visit www.scouting2007.org for more information on the centenary

If you are aged between 6 and 14 and are bored with not going out, fancy
meeting new friends and learning new things that do not involve computers, then
why not give one of the Youth Groups that are running in Northwood a go. There
are the Scouts and Brownies, which are run from the Scout Hut in Wyatts Lane
(see adverts on pages 13 & 14).

Both groups take girls and of course Scouting is for boys and girls. Of course,
these groups could not run without adult help and if you are aged between 18
and 118 and you have something to offer (everyone has something to offer) then
both Youth Organizations would love to hear from you.

For more information on any of these please ring me on 01983 289558, and I
will put you in touch with the appropriate people.
