Can you help us save Northwood’s Beaver Colony?

Beavers are the youngest members of the scout movement. Their group is called a colony and the children are between 6 and 8 years old. Scouting is open to both boys and girls of any race, faith or social status.

1st Northwood scout group has a very active Beaver colony consisting of 20 children and we meet at the scout hall in Wyatts Lane on Thursdays between 5.45pm and 7pm.

We are desperately in need of adults who are prepared to take over the leadership role.

We have young leaders (older scouts) who help and some parents help out on a fairly regular basis.

HOWEVER we need someone to become the Beaver Scout Leader. This would involve taking responsibility for supervising the timetable followed by the Beavers and the meetings. Training and support will be available, so you wouldn’t be left on your own.

At present the colony has been held together by members of the 1st Northwood Scout Group adult team but this situation can’t continue unless someone volunteers to take on the role.

If no-one comes forward then the Beaver colony must close at Christmas 2011.

The children love it and invite their friends to join as well and Beavers then go on to the cub and scout sections. People who have helped gain a huge amount of satisfaction from helping. If Beavers close then ultimately the other sections will suffer from reduced numbers in the near future.

If you are interested then PLEASE contact the GSL Colin Cundall on 01983 293826 or the assistant GSL Derek Finch on 01983 292904.
