Posted by Admin on 1 November 2007, 12:00 am

On October 23rd Comet 17P/Holmes exploded at a distance some 150 million miles from Earth, between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Since that time the comet has been expanding at over 1,300 mph.

The explosion was so big that the comet brightened by a factor of a million and became a naked eye comet in the constellation of Perseus.
