Minutes of the Members Meeting held on the 1st September 2016.

President – Mrs Fay Bunday welcomed members to the meeting.
.
Apologies – There were quite a few apologies due to holidays and ill health.
.
Anne Jonas gave an update on Joan Furnell. Joan has settled in well at The Orchards but has had a couple more heart attacks.
.
Birthday Ladies – in September are: Anne Jonas on the 11th, Fay Bunday on the 13th, Judeth Baker on the 20th and Elisabeth Hamilton on the 28th. All were presented with Birthday cards.
.
Speaker for today is Dr Ruth Waller.
.
Joyce Mace and Judy Medway Gash volunteered to do the washing up after our tea.
.
Ramble – this month will be on 8th September. Walk around Puckpool Park with a meal in the “Ship Inn”? Walkers meet at the hall for 10am with the others meeting for lunch at a later time.

Art and Craft – is on the 15th September.We are having a table at the IWWI Christmas Fair in the Methodist Church Hall, Quay Street, Newport on the 9th December.
.
Secretary’s Report/Treasurer’s Report and Hall Report were all given.

October’s Meeting – on the 6th October – We have Ray Allen, Script Writer, giving a talk on his sketches.
.
Table Top Sale – is on 22nd October.
.
Our Annual Meeting – is on 3rd November. Helen Davis put her name forward for joining the committee.
.
Christmas Meeting – is on 1st December – we will have an American Lunch, followed by a short meeting then entertainment.
.
We then had a break for tea.
.
The Raffle was drawn and the Competition results were for a Royal Memorabilia – 1st Morag Cook; 2nd Elisabeth Hamilton and 3rd Jacquie Pearce. The Best Bloom was won by Morag Cook.
.
Dr Ruth Waller then gave a very interesting talk on the Archaeology of Northwood, going right back to the Neolithic generation. Also there is evidence that there were three settlements in Northwood, which covered a vast area. Ruth’s Talk was very, very good. It was a slide show of various artefacts including a pot found under what is now Aldi’s supermarket. The vote of thanks was given by Morag Cook.
