Minutes of the Members’ Meeting held on 6th April 2017 in Northwood W.I. Hall.
.
Welcome – Anne Jonas, stepping in for Fay Bunday, welcomed members to the meeting.
.
Apologies – Fay Bunday, Morag Cook, Monica Probert and Denise Williams. Although Joyce Knight was also away, we didn’t have her apologies.
.
Unfortunately Joan Finch is unable to continue at the moment being our W.I. Advisor, so Anne welcomed Margaret Rogers who is acting as our Advisor in Joan’s place and will help out with any problems we may have.
.
Visitors/New Members – Visitor – Diana Savage was also welcomed to the meeting.
.
Birthday Lady – This Month is Jacquie Pearce whose birthday is on the 19th. As our May meeting is not until the 18th, Anne Cousins was wished a very happy birthday on the occasion of her 80th on the 4th May. Anne was presented with a Plant.
.
Judie Gash and Joyce Mace volunteered to do the washing up.
.
Last Meeting – There were some good comments on the speakers from the RNLI.
.
Art & Craft – As there is no ramble this month this is being held on 13th April because we have a Visit to Chessel Pottery on the usual A & C day.
.
Secretary/Treasurer/Hall reports were all given.
.
Solent Group Meeting – Is on 11th April in the W.I. Hall at 7pm. It is Flower arranging. Cost is £2.
.
Chessel Pottery – 20th April. Meet at the hall at 1pm to arrange lifts. Cost is £20 to include pottery and cream tea.
.
Birthday Lunch – Is at the Holmwood Hotel on the 11th May at 12.00 for 12.30. The Cost is £15 for Members and £19.50 for visitors.
.
Next Meeting – Is not until the 18th May and it is resolution day. Competitions are for 3 or 4 photos of yourselves, starting with youngest first.
.
Outing – Three suggestions were put forward, they are – The Priory at Carisbrooke, The Garlic Farm or Quarr Abbey. Members were asked to go home and think about where they would like to go.
.
We then had a break for tea/coffee and cakes.
.
The Speaker – Mr Clifford Cropley gave a very interesting talk on Dementia awareness and the support available on the Island. Anne Jonas gave the vote of thanks.
.
The raffles were then drawn. Competition results – Elisabeth Hamilton won both competitions.
.
The meeting closed just after 4pm.
