Northwood W.I. Report

Anne Jonas welcomed members to the meeting.

Due to us having to postpone the meeting on the 1st March with the snow, the speaker scheduled was unable to come on the 8th. Nevertheless we all had an enjoyable afternoon with a quiz devised by Morag Cook our Secretary.

Winners of the Competitions were – BGB – Morag Cook and Best Hare Ornament was Helen Davis.

We had an outing to the Lavender farm on the 22nd February but were rather disappointed. The shop had to be opened up for us (even the leaflet recently dropped through our letter boxes said it was open).The tea room has been sold and the cream tea wasn’t up to scratch with the scones, we believe, not freshly made that day. All the Lavender fields were gone. We were given to understand that the owners would be diversifying.

At our next meeting we have Hazel Breach giving a talk on the History of the W.I. from 1897 till 1918. Competitions are for 4 Easter Biscuits and BGB.

We have our Jumble Sale on the 14th April, which we hope a lot of people will attend.
.
The next thing we are all looking forward to is our 92nd Birthday Lunch at the New Holmwood Hotel on the 24th May, a bit later than our actual formation, which was on the 26th January 1926. I am sure we will all enjoy the meal. We would love to welcome any new members.
