Northwood W.I. Report

Members were welcomed by the President Elisabeth Hamilton; also a warm welcome was extended to visitor Betty Edkins.
A minute’s silence was held in memory of one of our members June Burden, who sadly passed away in June.
Birthday cards were distributed.
Arrangements were made for our Summer Fair in July and the outing in August to the New Forest and Haskins Garden Centre at Wimborne.
After all the business was conducted Mr Chiverton gave a very interesting talk on Shipping the Solent. His keenness started with a trip on the Bembridge Lifeboat shortly after the Second World War ended. It is surprising how busy the waters are and how many large ships and container boats use Southampton Port.
The Competition results are as follows – Best Bloom – Elisabeth Hamilton. Something Nautical – Fay Bunday.
There is to be a Programme meeting in August and the next meeting will be in September.
