President Jill Mazillius warmly welcomed everyone to the July meeting of Northwood W.I. Several Members were away due to ill-health and were wished a speedy recovery. An interesting talk was given by two lady Magistrates illustrating their work on the Island Bench.
Members were informed that our external painting has been completed very satisfactorily by Handy Andy and that one of our grant applications has been successful enabling us to start the process of enlarging the car parking facility to improve safe access to our lovely hall which is used by many of Northwood's residents.
Thanks was given to all who helped at the successful Summer Fair and popular Lunch and Games in July. These events bring much-needed revenue for the upkeep of the hall which is owned and maintained by the Members of Northwood W.I. The Summer outing round trip to Morton Manor and on to Brightstone for tea was much enjoyed by all.
The next meeting is September 1st at 2.00pm when we will be celebrating the 90th Birthday of the National Federation of Women's Institutes with sherry and cake. The speaker will be Mrs S. Brownscombe – subject "Hands-on Marbling". Visitors are most welcome. Join us for fun and friendship. Just turn up or ring Jill on 01983 295556.
