GRAND CANYON

A mule and its master,
so slowly descending;
from South Rim in zany
progression they’re wending;
now left and now right to
the serpentine bending
of Bright Angel Trail.
Fantastic the height and
the light in collusion;
grotesque there the rock forms
where earth’s re-diffusion
inverted the strata
in painted confusion,
near Bright Angel Trail.
