Tho’ dark-winged evil stalked our world,
in safety were we kept;
repose, by God’s Own Hand unfurled,
had cloaked us, and we slept.
‘To God all praise for morning light
and healing sleep alway,’
in gratitude for peace at night,
so let us start each day.
With thankful hearts to face the morn,
re-energised and strong;
in faith securely held – up-borne
by prayer and sacred song.
