“Walk,” says Linda. “You are slow,
very slow to learn these things.
Walking’s easy, don’t you know –
’spec’ly when I pull the strings.”
“Bow,” says Linda. “It’s polite.”
Man of cardboard, wool, and thread,
when to left hand tilts her right,
then most gravely bows his head.
“Dance,” says Linda, and effects
such an awkward, shuffling gait,
that, in ballet, she suspects
he will neverbe first rate.
