Dumb, the scarecrow leans,
hapless, near ribald crows:
goon-tattered zany – ragged as
teasel; bean-pole supported.
The draggle-tailed wight
slants to leeward. Obtuse,
derision-proof, and unaware
of its bondage to Ceres.
Mum, the guardsman struts,
armed, palace-façadewards:
state-owned puppet – his order and
orbit railing-protected.
A spruce pseudo-giant,
scarlet as Pompadour:
tourist-proof, and oblivious
of his fealty to Mars.
