‘Authentic’ – that’s the word
I’d use to praise the role
you played with insight, skill,
and such command, that all
Elizas seen and heard
in fifty years recede
from mem’ry’s stage – nor do
comparisons enhance
their artistry and charm.
Despite a critic-ear
I sat, impatient for
the cues that brought you ‘on’,
old warmth within once more;
for which I gratefully endorse
a truly Shavian tour-de-force.
