At two his blond and curly hair
reminds me mine was once as fair,
that once my eyes were quite as blue
as his are now, and innocent
as angels at the Throne of Grace:
mine, too, the round expressive face,
displaying childhood’s wonderment –
the short-lived moods in quick review.
In sad tranquillity recurs
a thought I tremble to define,
when watching Master “His and Hers”,
who should be “Hers and Mine”.
