O would I’d been to Eton,
had mixed with blood that’s blue;
and had my ‘topper’ beaten
as neophytes must do.
The neckwear so exclusive,
their wall-game’s battle long;
those sentiments effusive,
of Eton’s Boating Song;
I mourn not these, nor Latin;
the Greek: archaic dress:
but how the papers matin,
and kindred weekly press,
may never fill their pages
with diatribes of mine;
such work as oft assuages,
for wasting Eton’s time.

Writing articles in which they adversely criticise their college would appear to be a popular pastime among Old Etonians.
