Accept these lines at random penned,
when inspiration did descend,
for one who leaves quarto, foolscap, files,
to enter the realm where Thalia smiles
on Gilbertian scenes of charm never sere,
and Sullivan’s wizardry haunts the ear.
For one who can the boards persuade,
to join a metrical roulade
which portrays in steps so intricate,
Terpsichore’s art brought up to date.
Physical Culture and Dancing unite,
promoting health in callisthenic rite.
Long may those steps their magic rhythm bring,
to banish gloom, and bid dull care take wing.
