Mourn not actors passed away,
Lords of prose or metre,
Irving from Shakespearian play,
King as fond Sir Peter.
Haymarket sees Hawtrey’s ghost,
Wilde’s own shade to jostle;
Beerbohm Tree and Kemble toast
Drama’s new apostle.
Greater far our actor who
plays on wider stages,
mortal, yet immortal too,
screened for future ages.
Acting’s subtle diapason,
architect and artist – Mason!
