Butterflies

This is a great time of the year to be on the look-out for butterflies. Over the weekend I saw many marbled whites and meadow browns, several red admirals and a few others which I was not able to identify. Also, keep an eye open for dragonflies and damselflies: I saw a large and very attractive dragonfly moving down Oxford Street on Sunday, and some more when walking the footpaths.

Over the weekend of 5-6 August I saw eight additional species of butterfly in addition to the three listed above. These were: painted lady, gatekeeper, large white, small white, common blue, speckled wood, holly blue and small copper.
